Free Winter Sailing Seminars Begin This Week
Our opening Winter Sailing Seminar for 2013 will be presented this Thursday, January 24, at 7 PM, at the Provo Marina, by Doug Hendricks on his Offshore Passage Making class/adventure from Virginia to the Bahamas. Lots of video and slide images promise to give us a unique vicarious sailing experience in the warmer climes of the Carribean. Doug took 3 of his OPM students aboard his 40' yacht "Life" for an unforgetable 6 day voyage over Atlantic blue water, using classroom skills of celestial navigation, weather routing and on-board sytems. As Mr. T would say about missing this great opening seminar..."I pity the fool".
OFFSHORE PASSAGE MAKING
STAR CLASS OLYMPIC BOATS RESTORATION & REPAIR
Our next seminar, January 31, will be presented by DeWitt Smith on the Star Class Olympic Racing Boat. This venerated craft has been sailing competitively since 1930 and has been selected as a training platform for the majority of today's sailing luminaries. Learn about Star restoration opportunities, research and racing program offerings at the New Horizons Maritime Center . . . . coming soon.
The interview done by Terry Judd (Get Wet Sailing) at our Star Openhouse last September, has garnered national attention on the International Star Racing Association site. It is #9 out of 184 videos. Nice work Terry & DeWitt!
