CATALINA ISLAND ADVENTURE CRUISE
May 23 - 25, 2013

You're invited to join us for our 2013 Catalina Island Cruise. Space is limited. Reservations must be made by March 15, 2013. Learn how to sail a big charter catamaran, pick up a mooring, MOB retrival, anchoring, powering in tight quarters, navigation and more. We've seen dolphins, sea lions, square rig training vessels and have met a lot of wonderful people on our adventure cruises. Go ashore to visit Avalon's fabled Promenade. Sample the world class restaurants that beckon to visitors. Take in a movie at the iconic Catalina Casino Theatre.

Located at the edge of the Catalina Casino building, the Casino Point Marine Park is Southern California 's first city-designated underwater park. Established in 1965 by the City of Avalon as a reserve, Casino Point Marine Park has an abundance of marine life, giant kelp forests and several shipwrecks to explore. Several artificial reefs have been established to provide additional habitats.

Our skipper, Roger Bliss, will help you understand all the big boat systems as you take the wheel of our stable and roomy Lagoon 38 cat. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on board. Enjoy. Relax. Learn. Live your dreams.

After 3 days of sailing, we celebrate our adventures with a group dinner at the superb Parkers Lighthouse Restaurant, right on the water front, with the Queen Mary as a backdrop.

CELESTIAL NAVIGATION CLASS
March 1, 8, 15, 22, 2013

There is not a more affordable, more information packed class on Celestial Navigation anywhere. East or west coast included. This is a great opportunity to learn an important navigational skill ancient mariners have refined over the centuries, and is still viable today. Our instructor, Doug Hendricks, has sailed the Atlantic, Pacific and Caribbean, using only sextant navigation.  This is a unique opportunity to learn a skill of a lifetime.

BREAKING NEWS!  An interactive, virtual classroom is now available!

Unique benefits of the “Webinar” Format:  In addition to allowing people from all over the country (or the world) to easily attend the class, there’s another great benefit to doing this class as an online “webinar”. All class sessions will be recorded (both audio and video) and can be downloaded later by students who want to review things in detail. If we go over something a bit too fast or for some other reason if it doesn’t make total sense to you the first time through, just go back and look at the recorded session. All video images, PowerPoint slides, work sheets, scribbles on the electronic “whiteboard” and all accompanying audio will be saved and made available for students to download after the class is over.

RACING CLINIC
coming Spring 2013

Bonneville now has two Olson 30's to bring real one design racing to Utah Lake. Come aboard these fast stable and responsive boats to see why they have attained legendary status. Wyewacket has won the O30 Nationals, and is still a champion in all regards. Take the tiller, fly the chute, learn how to effectively trim for maximum speed. The racing concepts you learn while competing will sharpen trimming and boat balance skills on your own boat. Get that adrenalin flowing as you round the mark and head for home. Learn tactics and strategies at the start line. Get familiar with right of way leveraging by understanding COLREGS rules, and racing rules. Sail changes and choices for specific wind conditions.  More information coming soon.
