What's with the big red boat in ULSP dry storage?
Thought we had a binding agreement with the park.
They want Bay Bea moved! Now they say into dry-storage. Are you guys paying for the move?
What about our original agreement? How come you didn't put it in dry-storage in the first place?
For as far into the future as DNR says they are planning stuff, I'm suprised the DNR Utah Lake State Park manager, had no clue about the huge overflow parking lot project that was somewhere in the future plans, right where Bay Bea was first assigned a "forever" resting spot. Strate Crane is back, five years later, to move Bay Bea to a staging area and then she would be lifted over the security fence, where she now resides.
We're rotating Bay Bea to a staging area, half way between the original site and the waiting spot inside the dry-storage fence.
Blocking up Bay Bea in preparations for craning into dry storage. This has turned into an expensive full day project, but it was accomplished without any misshaps. Great crane operator and great ground crew.

Late that night (after Shuff had a half-dozen stitches in his head), we ruefully considered a dozen ways we easily could have saved a minute and ten seconds. If only we would have realized, we were still in the running! It taught us a major lesson in long ocean races in particular; no matter what kind of problems may develop, don’t quit. Keep driving on. The likelihood is high that others too, are having troubles.
But that race – American Eagle number one, and Bay Bea just barely behind in second place – even though we didn’t know it then, portended everything that was to happen throughout the whole World Ocean Racing Championship.
Our next WORC race was to be the 1969 Chicago-Mackinac. ( https://www.chicagoyachtclub.org/default.aspx?p=dynamicmodule&pageid=397327&ssid=320458&vnf=1 ) In preparation for the Great Lakes racing, and on the basis of what we had learned in two seasons on Bay Bea, we decided we needed more overlap. So we outfitted her with new genoas and a new reacher with a 165% overlap instead of the 150% overlap with which we had been racing up to that time. To be continued.

ULSP Managers say boats can go in slips March 20, 2026. You may bring boats down to the parking lots, two weeks prior, for set-up. My $.02... maybe don't mount your engines on the back of your boat if you are leaving the boat out overnight in the parking lot. Also be extremely cautious when walking on ice/snow on docks and decks, if and when that happens.
