NEW! Racing Programs on Utah Lake! Summer Sailstice
NEW RACING PROGRAMS ANNOUNCED!
We hope you are having a great summer. Our 2012 sailing season has been ramping up since mid April as we have been experiencing outstanding winds on Utah Lake. We are really enjoying our time with our students and are making new friends for a lifetime. The recent USA Summer Games Keelboat Regatta was the best yet and we appreciate Brett Bingham and crew for organizing and executing this annual event. We've got the racing bug!
In that spirit, Bonneville has recently acquired access to another Olson 30 rocketship. The Olson 30 is a fun, fast, high-performance race boat that is still the boat of choice for many competing in the single-handed Transpac race. In fact, it won the last running of the SSH Transpac. The Editors of Latitude 38 said this about the Olson 30 "In an Olson 30 that displaces just 3,600 pounds, even slight changes in wind speed and wind direction require quick and significant responses, which makes it really fun for the helmsman. The Olson, like other ultralights, reacts like a nautical Porsche." (Latitude 38. June 1, 2011). Check out this YouTube of an O30 racing on Lake Hubbard. With the addition of another O30 to the fleet, we are poised to offer a most unusual sailing opportunity right here on Utah Lake. "Match racing", on a proven go-faster, one design, purpose built, ultra-light hull displatement, on our ocean racing team boats....right here in the desert. We're excited about the prospects, but we want to hear from you. Please take a few moments to fill out the attached short SURVEY. To make the racing programs even sweeter, our clinic instuctor, Tim Adams, will be sharing his lifetime experiences and knowledge as a Sailor's World instructor and ocean racer, as well as a consistant top finisher in the Great Salt Lake Yacht Club racing series. A few comments on Tim's teaching abilities and sailing skills from past clinic participants:
