2022 Utah Lake Regatta is on the books. Sailstice on the horizon.

Fierce winds clobber our afternoon race

Morning of June 4...
a sailors forecast for the regatta.

At least 3 boats were out under full canvas, practicing for the next days regatta.
Thus proving the axiom, "practice makes perfect".

Tight quarters maneuvering at the start, always makes for added adrenaline.

Rounding the marks.

So many kind remarks. Lots of good vibrations

Put it all together...

NHMC needs a new home!
We've lost our current workspace :(
Sea Scouts need a space to finish working on their Catalina 27
Old barn. Vacant horse pasture. Heated, air conditioned, tiled floor, stained glass windows, pipe organ, vacated Gothic cathedral. We're good with most anything.

Thoughts on Summer Sailstice 2022
Bonneville has always encouraged joining the rest of the world on the longest day of the year...
to get out on the water and sail.
Historically, we have sailed from all points of the compass, to join up at the Pelican Bay marina, to cook dinner on the BBQ, make homemade ice cream, pass out Latitude 38 magazines and swap sailing stories.

Since the water depth in Pelican Bay marina is less than 3'
We probably need a "Plan B".
On account of sailing folk are so incredibly independent,
Far be it from me to tell any sailor what to do to celebrate the Sailstice.
However, if I may construct a short list of possibilities,
by some miracle, good stuff will be had by all who approach this day with grateful hearts, enthusiasm for the future, appreciation to have a boat and lake to sail on, a free country to enguage in the pursuit of happiness and wonderful sailing friends to share that day with.

Possibility 1:
If you are driven by competition, consider besting the current Crosland Trophy record of sailing a 24 hour chunk of time for speed and distance. You can't really anchor or duck into a slip for a nap. Fast and furious will be the only way to best this Utah Lake enduro race record. Contact Chad Chorniack for current speed/time/distance/ record. As you know, the Summer Solstice will be the longest day,  (sunlight / visibility).

Possibility 2:
Bring a pot luck dish down to the dock (Friday night), socialize and overnight in your boat.  Early morning down to the south end to try and catch some Spanish Fork Canyon breezes. Continue on sailing at your leisure. Don't forget your bug netting for open hatches and vents.

Possibility 3:
This one will take some organization. Maybe need more time.
Pirate garb optional.
Have a water balloon (canon ball) fight.
I hear that surgical tubing makes an awesome sling shot.
Most direct hits becomes the "Most Feared Pirate On Utah Lake"

Possibility 4:
Sailing Movie Night
Probably needs to be onboard, below decks, with cooling fans and bug netting.
If there's anyway to pull off Ginger Beer / ice cream floats...

if you have photos / videos of this event, please share here or
send to our email. Thanks
