Upcoming Activities & Events!

4TH GRADE FIELD TRIPS
We just finished our second of three days, participating in the Utah Lake Commission's
4th Grade Field Trips at Utah Lake State Park.  By the end of the field trips, over 950 students will have had the opportunity to attend different sessions including: a Nature hike, Wetlands of Utah Lake, Native Fish (June Sucker), Indian Cultures, Utah Lake Classy Birds, and more.  Our session was Wind In My Sails.  The kids were able to learn sailboat terminology,  raise the sail and then use a winch to pull a huge spinnaker out of its bag. We had a few strong puffs that demonstrated how powerful wind is when it catches a big sail. To our surprise, we had some pirates-in-training in attendance, along with many who had never been to the lake before and were amazed by all that it has to offer!

We are having a great spring with some of the best spring sailing conditions we have had in years.  We are excited about some of the upcoming events .  .  .

"The class far surpassed my expectations. Not only did I learn how to fly the chute, I also gained additional confidence and boat handling skills, as well as fun picking his brain with all kinds of sailing and racing questions. Oh, and how could I forget to mention the great shish kabobs and ciabatta bread the night before." Steve
