Utah Lake Commission Sponsors Regatta Big Time.
|
Just a few things that are different this year:*There will be no Utah Lake Festival to coincide with the Regatta.
*Bonneville has had to apply for a Covid-19 Event Permit, a Special Use Permit, and a Device on the Water Permit, from the DNR. *Restrictions appear to be lifting which is good news.
*There will be slips available for boats coming into the park for the race. These slips are free from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. *Plan on paying the park entrance fee to bring in a vehicle $15.
*Utah Lake State Park has a mast crane if you need one.
*Utah Lake Commission is donating/sponsoring all swag this year. ****Thank you Eric and Sam for your great support of our Sailing Community!

And then there's the sailing around the buoys thing. 2 morning races lunch break 2 afternoon races Skippers Meeting 9:30 AM Sharp! Be there or be square. the sooner we can complete our Skippers Meeting, the sooner we can gather at the start line and get racing! Meet at the ice rink pavilion, Utah Lake State Park.
Please come ready to race with well prepared boats, PFD's for all crew members, a VHF radio to receive Committee Boat information, drinking water, sun screen, hats, sunglasses and all necessary safety gear for you and your crew.
DISCLAIMER These are different times, as we all know. Due to ever changing CDC guidelines and restrictions, we don't know exactly what will be happening by June 5. As far as group gatherings (dinner and awards ceremony at our usual Provo Ice Rink Pavilion location), that may be one of the things that could change.
With so many boats getting craned out of the Great Salt Lake, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our sailing community from the GSLYC to join in the celebration of sailing, on Utah Lake. And also to the folks at Deer Creek and Jordanelle. This is a great opportunity to bring the sport of sailing in a desert to a whole new level.
Lindon Marina's wooden 2 masted Herreschoff There is one thing that will not be changing for the 2021 Regatta. We still need and appreciate any helpers for Committee Boat duties on the start/finish line. The great folks at the Lindon Marina have been working hard to get their Herreschoff wooden boat in the water by start time. You may be pulling Committee Boat duty on a part of sailing history. Consider it an honor to be out on the water on such a rare beauty. Volunteers still needed for Committee Boat Duty: Mark Setter (Anyone with access to a small motor boat??) free Regatta BBQ dinner for all CB Volunteers Please give us a call 801-636-5204 Line Sighter / Sounder Spotter / recorder Signaller Timer Scorer
Volunteers to help sand and paint would insure we can have this boat ready for CB duties by Regatta time. (Contact Chad at 801-427-6815 to sign-up)
We will add a 4th Division Class for "Multihulls" if we have at least 3 boats sign up by May, 21.
Let's do some basic math on how much this is going to cost you. Entry fees per boat: $45.00 (+) BBQ Dinner for 2 (included in entry fees): $30.00 (-) Possible trophy $10 (-) Possible Swag (low end): $34 (-) Possible Swag (high end): $1,300.00 (-) So for a $45 entry fee, you could (at worst) be investing $15 (doing the above math) in a great time sailing with friends, or possibly going home with a $1,270 toy... with a regatta thrown in at no extra charge.
Call For Entries Scan to Register or click here.
If you have gone through Bonneville's Intermediate Sailing Program, you are eligible to "charter" our Catalina 25 Charter Boat, and race in the 2021 Regatta. Get 2, 3 or 4 friends to split the rental costs. $300 for a full day, or $150/2 people, $100/3, or $75/4.
The Race Course. 3 marks, 1 mile apart, will be setup just outside the Provo Marina. The A mark will be the location of the Committee Boat, with the direction of roundings announced at the Skippers Meeting. A long blast of the horn will signal the Skippers Meeting, located under the ice rink pavilion, at 09:30, Saturday.
Let us know if: You have a boat that needs crew or You are crew needing a boat
