Maybe you can use this "math essay"
to figure out if sailing in the Utah Lake Festival Regatta is worth it.
If Sailor A shells out 50 clams to race in a regatta and gets two complimentary dinner tickets
(17 clams per ticket = 34 clams),
that means Sailor A really only pays 16 clams to participate.

If Sailor B shells out 50 clams to race in a regatta and gets two complimentary dinner tickets
(17 clams per ticket = 34 clams),
that means Sailor B really only pays 16 clams to participate.
If Sailor B places in the top three in his division, he will receive a medal, as well as his crew.
(5 clams per medal, let's say 2 crew members = 10 clams).
that means Sailor B has really only paid 6 clams to participate.

If Sailor C shells out 50 clams to race in a regatta and gets two complimentary dinner tickets

Regatta participants need to register by tomorrow,
Tuesday, May 28, to receive two free BBQ dinners
with your registration.
(deadline for BBQ head count to go to caterer)
