Catalina #11, cont. The Water Problem. Utah Lake Governing Board.

Catalina Cruise #11 continued

Day 2
  Bonneville's Catalina Cruise

March 15 - 18

Lots of cool shops and restaurants to explore,
as the Fountaine Pajot is secured on its mooring ball.

This crowd gathering along the shore intrigued me.
I overheard them saying they were tossing tiny baby lobsters,
(the orange stuff washed up on the beach)
back into the sea.

Dinner at Maggie's Blue Rose Mexican Restaurant.

Even after going hard all day,
Thayne and Jim tough out some navigation instruction for Day #3.
Roger related some interesting problems.

Day 3
The masts of the ketch moored next to us,
frame the Wrigley Mansion, looking down on Avalon.
The mansion is now called Mt. Ada B&B.

Casting off from our mooring ball,
we head out into the fog for Long Beach.
It's nice to have a helm station with working chart plotter,
radar and AIS.

Not all vessels transmit AIS signals,
so all hands kept their eyes peeled.

We did get a valid AIS warning for the Catalina Express, also leaving Avalon,
on a collision course with our Wind Walker.
A great time to review COLREGS rules of the road.

With a collision safely avoided and tied up in front of Parker's Restaurant,
we can acknowledge our accomplishments.
Well done crew!
