Doug Hendricks, who holds a 100 ton, master captain's license,
Vendee Leaders poised to break 78 day, around the world record!
Anything can happen with one / two leaders less than 100 miles apart, and 65 days out.
Could Hugo Boss skipper, Brit Alex Thompson, currently in 2nd place (and closing fast),
make Vendee Globe history, by sailing across French finish line,
wearing a signature Hugo Boss, drip dry tuxedo?

Ahhh...January in the southern latitudes.
Illes Fernado de Noronha lies close to the Vendee Globe route.
Just 180 NM off the Brazilian coast, at latitude 3 degrees south, the climate is tropical, the average mean temperature is 80 degrees F, with 2.484" of rain, in the month of January.
If you had a major boat malfunction, this might be a nice place for a stop over.
Especially after the cold wet rounding at Cape Horn.
