A free WINTER SAILING SEMINAR
Thursday, February 10, 2011, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Provo Marina
Tim has been racing sailboats for over 30 years on the East and West coast as well as the US Gulf Coast. He has extensive one design experience from the J-24 circuit as well as multiple offshore races in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Tim has also taught sailing for multiple schools and a Texas Yacht Club. Our hope is that you will be tempted to try racing your boat after attending this seminar. Topics to be covered include:
· Types of racing. One Design, PHRF, Solo, Distance and Buoy Racing.
· The magic of sailing upwind. Basic aerodynamic theory applied to boats.
· Downwind-no time for beer and cigarettes! Apparent wind affect. Using waves to go faster.
· Basic Rules. Three rules cover 99% of the situations. Not the big deal most make it out to be.
· The Start.
· Using wind shifts.
· The Finish.
