TRIVIA QUESTION
What is the Onion Patch Series?
1). A cooking competition, held in Vidalia, Georgia, where competitors must use a recipe with no less than 30% onions as part of their ingredients.
2). Annual contest in Britain for growing the heaviest onion. This years winner came in at 17 pounds, 15.5 oz.
3). A series of humerous "postcards" designed to be read in the bathroom, or as the authors put it, "replaces the Sears and Roebuck catalogue in your outhouse". Ouch.
4). A series of grueling ocean races, one of which is Oyster Bay - Newport.
5). The full title of this song was "I'm a Lonely Petunia in the Onion Patch" by Auther Goodfry.
Commemorative patch for competitors of the 1970 Onion Patch Series.
This bit of racing history was gifted to Bonneville
from Richard Purinton, a member of Bay Bea's Onion Patch crew.
Bay Bea received two first place finishes (out of five in the series)
and 3rd overall line honors for this renowned SORC Ocean Race, in 1970.
