OFFSHORE PASSAGE MAKING
Fort Lauderdale to Marsh Harbor
July 6 - July 22

This is a great opportunity to learn all you need to know about sailing for an extended period out on the big bad ocean.
There's still a little space left on Bonneville's offshore sailing trip to the Bahamas this July. The plan for this year is to make the trip more laid back than it was last year, with several short hops between islands rather than one long passage. There will be plenty of time for exploring, snorkeling, or just relaxing. Scuba diving is also possible with equipment rentals that are available on some of the islands we'll be visiting. We'll be meeting up in Fort Lauderdale Florida on July 6th. The trip will end in Marsh Harbor on Great Abaco Island, on July 22. We'll be in the Marsh Harbor area for the last several days and so if you need to leave before the 22nd we can drop you off early with no problem. The cost for the trip is $1,800 per person, which includes all on-board expenses except food. Meals eaten on board are handled on a cost-sharing basis because several of the islands we'll be visiting have great restaurants and we'll probably want to eat some of our meals there. Each person is responsible for making their own travel arrangements to Florida and back from the Bahamas. For more information, contact Doug Hendricks at doughndrx@gmail.com.

BOATS THAT WORK, RECREATE & COMPETE ON UTAH LAKEThere will be a new twist to the Utah Lake Festival this year. We've invited those with boats who have worked or recreated or competed on Utah Lake, to bring them down to the festival to exhibit them on the large cement pad, north of the Visitors Center. Sounds like some very interesting boats will be showing up.
FREE COAST GUARD INSPECTION
The Coast Guard Auxillary is offering free vessel inspections and certifications as a "safe vessel" at the Utah Lake Festival, June 8. A great opportunity to find out if your fire extinguisher is good, etc., etc.!INTERESTING FACEBOOK ENTRY
Two of Bonneville's students recently purchased a large catamaran in France and have sailed back across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal and are now at anchor in the Galapagos. It's a great read.

If you come down to the Utah Lake Festival June 8, you can talk to one of the crew of the 133 foot schooner Adventuress, which will be on display at the Lake Union Festival. Emery will have his wooden dinghy at the Utah Lake Festival, and should be easy to find.
