                                                                                                     ESCAPE TO SUNNY FLORIDA
                                                                                                                      January 13 - 17, 2022

We are looking forward to enjoying some warmer weather in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. We will be cruising and exploring the Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico in a spacious Fountaine Pajot 42' catamaran for a five-day, 4 night adventure cruise on Florida's west side..

This is a great opportunity to sail, as well as learn the systems of a Big Catamaran, for your future chartering adventures. We will be navigating the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway), with its myriad of drawbridges and million dollar mansions, sailing the birthplace of the powerful "Gulf Stream", and enjoying the safe and spacious accommodations of a Fountaine Pajot 42' catamaran. Each stateroom has its own private head.

We will be anchoring out in protected waters, and exploring on-shore sights when appropriate. Be prepared for mild temperatures and warm waters. Don't forget all the critters, in this "other-world" experience. Bonneville will be offering it's "Big Cat" certification, to those who want to learn and earn.   If you are working with NauticEd for certifications you can also get a Catamaran Endorsement.  Even if you don't want the endorsement, NauticEd's Catamaran Confidence Online Clinic contains a wealth of information about sailing a big cat.
Tentative St. Petersburg, Florida Trip Itinerary

Day 1: The morning will start with assigning staterooms, stowing gear, provisioning the boat, crew orientation and Captains meeting & check out. Once all release papers are signed and weather reports are checked, we are ready to throw off dock lines, and follow our charts into the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway). our destination is 23 nautical miles away, with an overnight stay at Bay Pines anchorage, just north of John's Pass.  Dinner will be on board that evening.

Day 2: We will venture out into the Gulf of Mexico for our next leg, heading south 25 nautical miles to Longboat Pass. Let's hope we'll get lucky and find some Dolphin to escort us on our trip. Dinner will be ashore at the Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant.

Day 3: We are back out in the Gulf, sailing south to Venice Inlet, for the night. Dining ashore at Crows Nest Restaurant.

Day 4: Day 4 will be full of sight seeing as we travel north up the ICW, navigating through close-quarters draw bridges as we glide past million dollar water front homes that stretch on mile after mile. Night lights on Sarasota Bay are spectacular. Dinner ashore at the Westin Sarasota is recommended.

Day 5: 31 nautical miles back to home port. Some ICW and some open water sailing required to get back to base. There's always a chance we could see Manatee's around Manatee River.
